Screwfix saw sales reached £2 billion in the year to January 2021.
A combination of strong online sales and a trend towards lockdown DIY projects has caused profits to rise this year for Screwfix-owner Kingfisher Group.
The omnichannel retailer has opened 30 new stores over the past year, taking the total number of stores to 725 across the UK and Ireland.
The overall growth brings the number of new jobs created by Screwfix in the past five years to 4,000, during which time the business has opened on average, a new store every week and doubled sales from £1bn to £2bn.
John Mewett, Screwfix CEO said: “I’m incredibly proud of what our colleagues have achieved this year. We have continued to keep our customers supplied safely whilst creating opportunities for our colleagues. We have also been able to give back to our communities when they have needed support the most. I’d like to thank all of our colleagues and customers for their incredible support during what has been an extremely challenging year.”
