Thorntons has renewed its multi-million-pound IT outsourcing contract with HP Enterprise Services. With the end of the 10-year contract approaching, the company selected Orbys - a Datamonitor company - to provide specialist advice on a deal which included infrastructure, networks, hardware and applications.

Steve Harris, head of IT at Thorntons, says: “We outsourced our IT in order to make costs more visible, ensure we had a flexible and adaptable IT solution and to allow us to focus on our core business. The renewal gave us the opportunity to ensure we delivered value for our shareholders, whilst having the best IT solutions for our business. Working with Orbys ensured we were able to get an in-depth view of the marketplace.”

Angela Wyatt, managing director of global consulting at Datamonitor, comments: “It was a short and intensive process, but it was soon clear that Thorntons was getting good service and we recommended the two companies continue to work together.”
