Sainsburys has announced a new project to improve the layout of products in its stores, using JDA space optimisation software.

The grocery giant is adopting similar software currently in use at such rivals as Asda, Tesco and the Co-operative Group.

Brian Mort, JDA Software regional vice president, EMEA, says: "JDA's best-of-breed category management solutions help leading retailers like Sainsburys more effectively plan, execute and analyse their demand-based category and assortment strategies by integrating store-level data with market intelligence to cluster stores based on true localised demand. We look forward to helping Sainsburys streamline its category management processes to meet its business objectives."
