NCR today announced a new PoS terminal that delivers more processing power, scalability and systems management. The NCR RealPOS 82XRT will be showcased at the National Retail Federation BIG Show in New York City, 16-17 January.

Fueled by Intel's second-generation Core high-performance processors, the new workstation will enable retailers to serve shoppers faster and deliver rich, multimedia content at the PoS to help boost sales and service levels.

The PoS can run high-performance applications, such as high definition (HD) video and graphics on customer-facing displays. And keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) technology, enhances remote management capabilities.

Support staff can now view the PoS system remotely to diagnose and take action on systems as if they were in the store. Tool-free access is also provided to further increase serviceability levels and uptime.

“Our highest-performance PoS terminal to date provides retailers with advanced technology and enhanced processing power to deploy applications at the point-of-sale as part of a converged retailing experience for shoppers,” sys Greg Egan, general manager and vice president of retail store automation, NCR Corporation. “It provides the headroom for future business growth and new solution capabilities to help retailers protect their systems investment.”
