MetaPack is to host the UK’s first home delivery conference, taking place on Thursday, 17 February 2011 at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London. Following the company’s 2009 user conferences, MetaPack reached the conclusion that retailers wanted a home delivery focused event and so have expanded on last year’s formula.

Patrick Wall, MetaPack’s CEO explains: “For direct selling, retailers are realising that home delivery impacts all areas of the business from customer experience, ultimately down to the all-important bottomline. Almost every month a piece of research comes to the fore highlighting the critical nature of delivery, so we’re not here to tell them why delivery matters but showing them what’s available and how to go about getting a best in class delivery service.”

Visitors will be able to listen to presentations from industry partners, learn about new products and services and meet with their peers to discuss industry developments. Through the day they will hear presentations from carriers, fulfillment houses and warehouse management providers. Speakers will cover UK delivery as well as international outbound and returns. Particular emphasis will be placed on new and innovative services that will be ready for peak 2011. In a parallel stream, workshops will offer the chance to hear case studies of how leading retailers are attaining best practice in their despatch and delivery processes.

Andrew Starkey, delivery director at industry association, IMRG, comments: “Getting delivery right not only drives sales but reduces costs. E-retailers lose about £1.7 billion a year through ‘delivery related’ cart abandonment and at least £240 million a year from ‘delivery related’ lost sales and customers who choose not to return. The MetaPack Home Delivery Conference gives anyone serious about providing an excellent delivery offer a great opportunity to keep abreast of the solutions that prevent these losses and drive a first class delivery service.”
