EAST implements in-store iPads

To improve communications between head office and its 100 retail outlets, EAST decided to implement a centralised communications strategy. Vodat International responded with a solution to improve the retailer’s efficiency, saves costs and increase security.

Historically, EAST had found the data flow between head office and its stores and concessions across the UK to be complex and ineffective. The postal services, telephone calls and emails used to communicate information between the locations proved to be time-consuming and expensive.

The retailer therefore required an online network that would remove the need for traditional postal services, and one which would increase efficiency and strengthen its internal communications. Specifically, EAST wanted to send stock and transaction data, marketing and promotional activities and all other company documentation – including HR staff records and business documents – across a secure network.

To achieve these objectives, EAST selected a fully managed Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Network from Vodat International, along with a wireless extension to facilitate the use of iPads which have been supplied to each store to be used as an accompanying business tool.

This serves to further strengthen communications, improve customer service, and drive sales. EAST signed the contract with Vodat in August 2010, and the rollout had been fully implemented just three months later.
