According to the latest of ChannelAdvisor UK Facebook Commerce Index, Amazon saw a massive 14 per cent increase in Facebook fans. The e-commerce giant is now chasing Marks & Spencer and Tesco, which rank second and first respectively in May’s 'Top Growers' chart, with a combined 135, 514 additional fans.

Over the past 12 months, the Index has tracked a 15 million increase in fans, proving how real investment in social channels will successfully engage customers and drive brand awareness.

The Jubilee weekend saw consumers go online and ‘Like’ our most patriotic retailers. A regular fixture in the Index, John Lewis had an especially successful month, rising three places and now ranking 15th in the Top 25. This prominent retailer was also in the Top 10 Growers for May, with a 10 per cent increase in fans (40,932).

A key reason behind this surge in 'Likes' may be the impressive Jubilee themed page that John Lewis used to promote their product offers and competitions over the month of May, which seems to have to pushed consumers’ patriotic buttons and successfully spread the Jubilee spirit.

Clarks also profited from a Jubilee-themed page, seeing an impressive 18 per cent increase in fans, particularly with their launch of a ‘Great British Summer’ competition towards the end of May for fans to win a pair of shoes each week, in red, white and blue!
