The specialist
photographic retailer is adopting IntelliQ’s
RetailKey Loss Prevention (RetailKey LP) software
in an effort to monitor sales transactions, identify
irregular or unusual patterns of activity, or anomalies.
Jessops is seeking to establish if losses are due
either to fraud, wastage or procedural errors.
“Using RetailKey LP we will be able to draw
information from all areas of EPoS and analyse both
visual and text data to judge the appropriate course
of action, be it further investigation, staff training
or the creation of new processes,” says Jim
Graham, head of security and auditing for Jessops.
The retailer accepts its losses are in line with the
retail industry average, but lacked any mechanism
for determining the exact size and cause of these
losses. The company also recognised that many of its
products are vulnerable to theft because they are
small, yet of high value.
“We believe that while we will get immediate
benefits, for example in terms of identifying fraudulent
credit cards refunds,” adds Graham. “Over
time RetailKey LP will have a deterrent effect and
also enable us to recognise problems and rectify them
much more quickly.”
