Sainsbury’s Local stays safe

Sainsbury’s is working with commercial and retail security company Blue Rock to implement an IP-based security system throughout the company’s 120 Sainsbury’s Local convenience stores

The retailer is introducing a system that suits Sainsbury’s specific requirements. Each store will be equipped with an Initsys IAF (Install and Forget) network video recorder, which has built in Initsys duplex detection.

The system provides enhanced playback quality and a graphical user interface developed in conjunction with Initsys that makes the system user friendly.
In addition to the rollout of the security system across the Sainsbury’s Local estate is a trial of a fully interactive IP system.

This solution has been installed in the store and allows for all recorded material to be stored at off-site storage provided by Blue Rock.

The network polls the system every 45 seconds, ensuring that the off-site storage has up-to-the-minute save material and that Blue Rock is alerted of any technical problems long before the staff on site are aware of them.

“As we learn more about the possibilities of the IP system at the test store we are able to tailor the system to meet our requirements as they develop,” says Terry Poole, head of profit protection at Sainsbury’s Locals.
