The Group was left with nearly a thousand items of computer equipment following an IT stocktaking in food stores after it amalgamated with United Co-operatives in the summer of 2007. The equipment is being sent to UK IT Recycling to be refurbished and then donated to a range of users including schools, clubs and charities.
Food Retail IS hardware team manager, Gary Wardley, comments: “We needed to dispose of the computers which we could no longer use in our food stores but we also wanted to ensure we followed our Co-operative principles."
