Increased security at Bolton Wanderers

Network Defence has implemented a new IP CCTV camera network across Bolton Wanderers’ Reebok Stadium

The company has installed 40 IP CCTV cameras into the football club’s current infrastructure, enabling security and health and safety officials to gain visibility in parts of the ground that had previously been unreachable. In addition it now monitors the stadium throughout the business week when it remains active due to the location of the De Vere Whites Hotel at the Reebok. Bolton Wanderers plans to roll-out a total of 100 cameras. As well as hosting IP CCTV, the Cisco IP infrastructure also carries an IP telephony service. The club now plans to focus on energy conservation by integrating building management services into the network.

“The new cameras not only capture any anti-social or dangerous behaviour but also act as a deterrent to those intending to behave in such a manner – this helps to increase levels of security in and around the stadium. With crowded areas being potentially a prime target for security threats it was imperative to put in place a more comprehensive solution that would give us a wider range of visibility across the club grounds. Since their installation the cameras have already proven their worth by capturing incidents, which have been invaluable in helping us resolve security issues,” says Dave Atkinson, IT manager at Bolton Wanderers.
