Barbour in ERP system revamp

Barbour has chosen a fully integrated HP BladeSystem infrastructure as part of a project to renew its ERP system

The clothing manufacturer and retailer was looking for an IT infrastructure that met several key objectives before any bespoke projects could be implemented. The installation had to be fully resilient, capable of failover in the event of a disaster at Barbour’s primary site to ensure business continuity needs while providing enhanced performance and a lower total cost of ownership. “We needed a solution that gave us end to end IT and business support 24/7. We can’t afford to have any embedded inefficiencies in our IT roll-out and we had to tick all the boxes on performance, dependability and cost savings on reduced energy usage” said Neil Thursby, head of technology at Barbour.

The installation on Barbour’s primary site includes a fully scalable HP BladeSystem c7000. This accommodates multiple server and network designs in one enclosure while lowering the cost per server and reducing power consumption through smaller footprint when managing hardware virtualisation solutions. Barbour is also using an HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array and the HP StorageWorks MSL4048 Tape Library, which provides demanding data storage needs for unattended backup, archive and disaster recovery and comprehensive remote management tools.
