CBA is Hungary’s second largest retailer with an estate of 3,300 stores, primarily made up of convenience stores and 600 supermarkets, all operating under a co-operative-like business model with a proportion of stores centrally owned. The majority of its outlets use paper labels to display product and pricing information, but these have proved to be a challenge with constant price changes and promotions that were time and resource-consuming, leading them to ZBD’s electronic shelf label solution.
Dr. András Malasics, general manager at CBA, says: “We realised that we needed to automate the changes that we make to our products and pricing on a daily basis. We had considered the old segment displays, but we recognised that these offered limited functionality with a high total cost of ownership. Implementing ZBD’s e-paper displays throughout the store will enable us to make measurable savings and improve efficiencies, and we consider this to be a long-term solution.”
